I came across this in my readings a few days back and I thought it was quite peculiar because this theme has sort of been an uncertainty for me in the past little while. However, through a lot of asking, seeking and knocking :) the question is slowly but surely being answered.
Part One
September 11th
My Utmost for His Highest
Oswald Chambers
The very first 2 sentences that start the page off are as follows:
Ministering as opportunity surrounds us.
This does not mean selecting out surroundings, it means being very selectly God’s in any haphazard surroundings which He engineers for us.
I’m not too sure what it was exactly about this statement, which struck me as so bold, and so “in-your-face” but that’s how I saw it.
I guess it’s because it is so simplistic and so direct. There’s no fluff or pretty words to cushion what Mr. Chambers is trying to get at here.
The first time I read it…I thought to myself…woah. How simple is that? Could it be any more simple?
Part Two
Then I received a letter today :)
An excerpt reads as follows:
"You are right where you should be."
How cool is that?
If you know me…you knew where I wanted to go in September of 2002 and how that want gradually got trampled and died. It sure wasn’t what I expected but boy…was I in for something a whole lot better.
Part Three
Going home over the past weekend reminded me of 2 things:
1) Sunday school is great.
2) C.S. Lewis is the man.
…and I finished reading a little essay of his while baking a cake…it says:
By ceasing for a moment to consider my own wants I have begun to learn better what I really wanted.
(taken from The Weight of Glory, pg 97)
I guess it’s just been really cool to wake up each morning and be able to learn, experience and just gradually figure out why I am where I am. It’s so amazing because it’s slowly becoming more apparent now and so vivid…I am so grateful.
P.S. - failure build character right? ;) aren't you glad He loves us no less?
your letter is coming soon :)
