…on Simplicity…

After waiting a month for my criminal reference check, I finally got to start volunteering :P

Basically, I get to play with adorable kids for 2 hours a week!

It’s been a while since volunteering with kids and I must say that I totally forgot how much I enjoy it! It was great :) Just watching them do their thing and run around is enough entertainment for two hours.

There was a basket full of N64 games and it was sitting in front of me. Then along comes this little girl and she just picks up each game, one by one and hands it to me like a gift. After she’s given me all the games, she runs away with the basket, comes backs and puts all the games back in and starts the cycle again.

This other child was so chubby! (hehee…sorry…i love chubby kids) Anyway! He was the quiet one and he wanted to play N64 but all the other older kids were playing…but he gladly settled for a story instead. He was so well behaved and so sweet!

Well, the whole volunteering thing got me thinking about how “complex” I like to make my life out to me (when it really doesn’t have to be at all). It’s like…how many times do I have to dance around something that’s bothering me before I finally admit that something’s bothering me? How often is it that I’ll do something wrong but know exactly what I should have done in the first place? I seriously think it is my habit to make everything seem more complex than it ever is or ever has to be.

And there’s just so much stuff I have. Literally. Why do I need all this cluttered junk in my room to take up space and serve no purpose? Aiya. My mom and dad say that I’m a garbage collector because I don’t like to throw anything away :P

That’s why kids are great.

Sleep. Eat. Play. Cry. Eat. Whine. Play. Fight. Eat. Sleep.

Well, that’s my very inaccurate interpretation of what a child's life is like…but seriously – they are so much more straightforward than most adults. I love it! BOO to unnecessary complexity!

I hope you don’t mind me using your picture…I loved it though…it’s so fitting and also adorable too!

"Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
