God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

“Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” -Psalm 73:25-26- “I say to myself, ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.’” - Lamentations 3:24 -

Watchman NeeThe Normal Christian Life
-learned so much with Cora & Grace…wow…praise God for reckoning! 1. know. 2. reckon. do not reckon without knowing! :P
Faith
“faith is my acceptance of God’s fact” –p. 68
“faith is the substantiating of things hoped for” –p. 73
-waaahh! so simple…but so commonly overlooked! Romans is so good!

I’ve come to the realization that…

1. my dad is the best cook ever. my family has resorted to such eclectic tastes/varieties for meals. i've eaten like, 1-1 ½ meals a day since he’s left…since my mom is like, uber-not wanting to actually cook…so we’ve eaten like, the same leftover pizza this whole week and then she made the MAN’S chicken wings last night and stuffed us with mini-strawberries (for our ‘greens’)
-my food yesterday consisted of:
[peach yogurt/a big plate of Mr. Greek/free Krispy Kremes/a Starbucks Caramel Frappacino/wings (mmmm)/mini-strawberries/pay-dan-sow-yook-jook] it made up for the whole week

2. ideals are bad
..because i have no idea what is best for me, at all and if i concoct this ideal in my mind of what i perceive to be good for me, then it’s gonna be bad news because then my eyes are not on Him – they’re on me. then it’s this pursuit of what you think is good for you and what you strive to attain and then you might get it and find out…nope! this is not what you need/want OR you might never get it and keep chasing after it and it’ll keep leading you further and further away from what is actually good for you. yes, ideals are bad.

3. I should…“Rest in the fact that God has put you in His Son [John 15:5], and live in the expectation that He will complete His work in you [Philippians 1:6]. It is for Him to make good the glorious promise that “sin shall not have dominion over you” (Romans 6:14).”

4. God is so good :)

5. Clouds are amazing, everyday (especially when it is cloudy at night!) trying to watch the clouds at night, while driving = bad news. and you wouldn’t expect that you can even see the clouds at night but you can! coming home tonight, the sky was a deep blue and the clouds were like a dark grey-ish colour…it was so amazing! God = best artist ever!

6. i love the MAN’S analogy (inspired from a Tom Thompson but not by me :P)
…so when you look really closely at an oil painting – you can see the blotches, the smudges, the chunks of paint…which doesn’t really look good because that’s all you can focus on, up close, the fine details and the unevenness of the texture. however, when you take a couple of steps back, it looks much better because you can see the entire painting as it is and you realize how the smudges/blotches/unevenness works out for the whole painting to look good. when we go through our lives, we don’t realize how the existing sufferings/problems which occur can possible be good (we are bound by time!) but when we look in retrospect we can see how the ‘imperfections’ in our lives do good for us/others in the Big Picture.

7. this summer has been amazing! and will continue to be amazing!
